One of the core areas of intervention of bioRe Association is in education of rural and tribal children. The aim is to support:
- The community in accessing quality education
- Human rights of primary education
In the field of education, bioRe Association is implementing two major programmers:
- Animation school programme and
- bioRe public school cum vocational center campuses.
Animation School Programme
The concept of the Animation school aims at enrolling those children who for whatever reasons have been prevented from exercising their right to primary education. Animation word is used to sensitize or animate the stakeholders who think that education is not an issue. Our first animation school was initiated by in July 2006.
Animation schools are a unique model of community participation. Animation school concept works in a phased manner. Initially an animation school runs in a farmer’s house and later on villagers built temporary structures for theses schools. Once the community offers land to build the school building, the building for the schools is constructed with basic infrastructure. During the whole process all benefits such as school books, bags, uniforms, teachers, health check up, monthly hygiene kits and exposure visits are being provided by the bioRe Association with the help of bioRe Foundation, Switzerland. Animation schools gets recognition by the state government as normal affiliated community schools which allows our children to exercise the option of accessing further schooling once they complete their primary education.
At present (July 2017) we are running 18 animation schools where over 1000 tribal children are getting free of cost primary education.
Different animation schools are sponsored by different bioRe partners. These partners are informed about the progress and developments of the respective schools and children from time to time. Partners helping animation school are encouraged to pay visits to the animation schools at any time of the year.
Once Animation school children have completed their primary education upto grade 5th, they move to big school campus of bioRe public school cum vocational center for their further education.
bioRe Public School & Vocational Center
The project on bioRe public schools and vocational centers was developed as natural culmination of Animation school programme for continuation of the education of Animation school students. Concept of setting up three big school campuses was evolved after due deliberation and assessing the need of such institutions in the light of the progress of animation school programme. The children from the animation schools who are completing their primary education need to continue their education which enables them to choose livelihoods of their interest.
The whole concept of promotion of education programme involves a series of development processes. In this series the first bioRe public school and vocational center was inaugurated on October 2013 and first academic session was initiated in July 2014. Presently, over 500 stundents are studying in first campus. Two more such campuses will be developed in next three years.
The vision of bioRe schools and vocational centers is to Develop as the most valued school across the region which provides a stimulating learning environment with skill development, which maximizes individual potential and ensures that children of all ability levels and from all sections of community are set to meet the challenges of education, work and life, thus enabling them to lead a dignified life in the area they belong to.
The unique feature of the school is the enrollment of external children who pay certain fees to make the school self sustained. This projects infrastructure is sponsored by COOP Switzerland. The campus of the first school campus has state of art facilities for learning academics, skills, sports and other extracurricular activities in a green living campus and an organic farm in the center of the campus. It also has mandatory work education of 100 hours per annum for all children from grade 5th. The vocational center is affiliated with SCVT Bhopal.
